My Favorite Host

All of my entries are self-serving to some degree. This is because I like to write about things of which I’m passionate. One of my great hopes is that my passions and my expression of them have value to any readers who stumble across my blog. There are several reasons why I want this. The most significant reason is that I am elated when I look at my stats and see that someone on the island of Mauritius, or someone in the Russian Federation has read what I have to say. They say that pride goeth before a fall, but I say that’s BS. A healthy, but tempered, sense of pride is an underlying cause of many of the greatest achievements in the history of mankind.

With all of that being said, this particular entry is even more self-serving than most. However to those who take advantage, it too will hold much value.

This entry is about my host service, Lunarpages.

Although this blog is only about a month old, I’ve actually owned the domain since 2003. In the years since, I’ve done some small scale things with the site, but didn’t really get serious until recently. Originally, I was hosted by another service, but due to frequent shutdowns and other problems, I shopped around for another host.

In the roughly 3 years that I’ve used Lunarpages, there hasn’t been a single issue with the server space. Even during server upgrades they were still always there. On the occasions that I screwed up something with my CPanel, their customer service was quick to make it right again. Because I have been very happy with them, I decided to look into becoming an affiliate and it turns out that they have an outstanding affiliate program as well.

To anyone interested in moving their blog to their own domain, anyone unhappy with their current host, or anyone else who desires having a new domain, Lunarpages is among the best. They include a great CPanel with Fantastico that makes a cinch out of setting up PHP software like Wordpress, VIPER guestbook, or Wiki (to name just a few). They also include Coffee Cup software to new subscribers. Coffee Cup includes an HTML editor as well as Flash and website design software.

The basic hosting plan includes 250 GB of storage and 2500 GB of monthly bandwidth. Oh, and they also throw in free domain registration with a yearly plan. All of this is only $6.95/month. (They also have business hosting, Windows-based hosting, VPS hosting, dedicated servers, and reseller hosting for varying rates.)

Even if you’re currently satisfied with your host, you can become a Lunarpages affiliate and earn revenue when someone you refer signs up. It’s win-win.
